Dujiangyan: One of the world’s oldest hydraulic engineering projects and a crystallization of ancient Chinese laborers’ wisdom, it continues to play a vital role in flood control and irrigation. The design ingeniously utilizes the natural river flow through three main structures—the Fish Mouth Levee, Flying Sand Weir, and Bottle-Neck Channel—achieving perfect integration of water diversion, sediment discharge, and flood release.
Qingcheng Mountain: Renowned as one of China’s Four Sacred Taoist Mountains, it is celebrated for its secluded beauty with the saying “No mountain under heaven is more serene than Qingcheng.” Towering ancient trees and lush greenery make it an ideal retreat for summer escapes and spiritual cultivation. Beyond its natural splendor, Qingcheng boasts profound cultural heritage, housing numerous Taoist temples and historic sites like Shangqing Palace and Tianshi Cave, serving as a key center for studying Chinese Taoist culture.
Nanqiao (South Bridge): Located at the southern gate of Dujiangyan City, this historic bridge dates back to the Tang Dynasty and has undergone multiple reconstructions, with the current structure built during the Qing Dynasty. Spanning the Min River, it serves as a crucial link between Dujiangyan’s urban area and its southern bank, standing as a city landmark. At nightfall, the bridge illuminates brilliantly, transforming into a stunning scenic attraction.
